In October 2013, The Globe Gallery was delighted to host part of this year’s Northern Design Festival featuring:

• ‘Design Event MART,’ a curated selling exhibition presenting the best in contemporary design from designers in the North of England (North East, North West, Yorkshire and Humberside) who work across a range of design including furniture, surface, textile, lighting, product, jewellery and fashion.

Designers taking part in the exhibition included:

Claire Baker, Daniel Schofield, Fay Jenkinson, Jessica Hogarth, Josh South, Josie Morris, Laura McKay, Leah Xandora, Miles Dexter, Nick James, Psalt Design, RASKL, Tom Midgley, Will Iver Keeler, Wonder Stuff Studio, Alex Robins, Afid Design, Anne Laycock, Jamie Josef Fry, Laura Slater

There was a diverse mix of products exhibited including paper and ceramic jewellery, furniture, prints, home accessories and wallpaper.

• ‘Illustrate,’ an exhibition of work by leading illustration practitioners based in, or with connections to the North of England. Illustrators whose work is seen in newspapers, the small press, interiors, fashion and advertising will exhibit work produced outside the confines of a brief.  This included previously unseen original artwork, prints and objects.

Illustrators included: Paul X Johnson, Jay Cover, Matthew the Horse, Monsieur Cabinet, Andy Singleton, Nicholas Saunders, Sara Ogilvie, Switchopen, Kristyna Baczynski, Drew Millward.
