‘You are here and that is something’ was a film installation where fact and fiction merged and lost memories were recalled through buildings, stories and people. New narratives emerged as the world of dreaming met our perception of reality. Newcastle based artist Ben Jeans Houghton worked with a team of participants to combine real and imagined histories of Globe’s new venue – a 1930s building previously housing the Cooperative Bank.
Artist Statement
Houghton works in sculpture, installation, film, photography, drawing, writing and performance. He has exhibited internationally in Germany, Greece, Japan, North Africa, South East Asia, and the USA, whilst regularly exhibiting in the UK. He is also a founding member of the ARKA Group.
